Unitronic® Stage 3 ECU/TCU Performance Software is now available for the 2015+ Audi® A3®, VW® Golf®, Sportwagen® and Alltrack® equipped with the 1.8TSI® GEN3 MQB® engine.* Thanks to an upgraded Hitachi® HPFP from the 2.0TSI GEN3 engine, IS38 turbocharger and supporting hardware, power output is increased by up to +216HP / +128LB-FT over stock with Unitronic Stage 3 (93octane/98ron) Performance Software for a maximum of 395HP / 352LB-FT. This Performance Software is entirely compatible with our UniCONNECT+ cable, empowering users to tune their vehicles directly through the OBD-2 port within minutes, from the comfort of their own home or garage.
In order to successfully complete this upgrade, the cam follower and vacuum pump assembly will also need to be upgraded along with the Hitachi high pressure fuel pump to produce maximum power. Thanks to the considerable increase in fuel capacity, Unitronic Stage 3 Performance Software takes the IS38 one step further to help produce an impressive +43HP / +28LB-FT over Stage 2+ power levels. This delivers a significant performance enhancement which enthusiasts can see and feel on the street, track, and beyond—all while maintaining reliability thanks to Unitronic's rigorous Software development process.
TRANSMISSION TUNING
In order to provide maximum drivability, reliability, and performance, Unitronic Stage 3 TCU Software is required for vehicles equipped with DQ250 DSG® transmissions. This upgrade increases the torque limiter to handle higher power levels, optimizes both Drive and Sport modes for a more refined and responsive experience, and enables gear display for better driver awareness. Additionally, it removes kickdown for full control over throttle input and enhances gear shift speeds, ensuring quicker, smoother shifts that keep up with the demands of high-performance driving.

Unitronic’s ECU calibrations are engineered to improve engine response and reduce low-end lag. Ignition Timing Precisely Calibrated for Higher Octane Fuel
Engine calibration optimized to take advantage of higher fuel quality to extract maximum combustion energy. Therefore, when using a higher octane fuel, more power and better fuel efficiency will be achieved.
Optimized Maximum Output
Unitronic’s ECU Calibrators deliver the maximum power output while staying within the operational limits of the factory engine and drivetrain components. Specifically, this results in the highest engine performance without sacrificing the reliability of the engine, turbocharger, or other engine and drivetrain components.
Factory Safety Limiters Retained
OEM “fail safes” are retained within the ECU calibration. Close monitoring of all operation parameters ensures that engine operation stays within factory components limits, resulting in reliability.
Power Delivery Perfectly Optimized Throughout the Power Band
Aligned with the OEM strategy, the calibration is designed to offer a large flat torque plateau to provide a smooth and linear power band. Maximum torque output is achieved sooner and maintained longer which creates a broader torque plateau and greater area under the curve. This results in an improved acceleration and optimal engine operation.
Speed Governor Removed
Vehicle speed limiter within ECU is removed. (Subject to transmission rotational speed limit.)
