Expanding on its extensive experience with the SIMOS controllers found in modern VW and Audi vehicles and being the first major North American tuner with Performance Software offerings for the SIMOS 19.6 equipped MK8 GTI, Unitronic Engineers wasted no time recalibrating the new SIMOS 19.6 ECU to achieve more power and torque with the new direct drop-in Garrett PowerMax Turbocharger (available through Unitronic). Unitronic Stage 3 ECU calibration optimizations include recalibrated boost regulation, optimized ignition timing, lambda, camshaft timing, and much more in order to safely develop more power with this impressive new turbocharger.
DQ381.2 STAGE 3 TRANSMISSION TUNING
Unitronic is proud to release its Stage 3 TCU Performance Software for the DQ381.2 transmission, which is calibrated for use specifically with Unitronic's Stage 3 ECU Performance Software. Unitronic Engineers identified gearbox originating torque limitations on the TCU side of the DQ381.2 transmission. In order to overcome these limitations, while ensuring proper torque management and operation, TCU Performance Software is required for DSG vehicles. Stage 3 TCU Performance Software calibrations increase the torque limiter and increase clutch clamping pressure in order to allow the capability of higher clutch torque for seamless operation which further enhances the user experience. Customers with locked BLxxx401 TCU types are not yet eligible for this upgrade however the team of Unitronic Software Engineers is continuously working towards providing a solution.
FUTURE DEVELOPMENT
Unitronic is proud to offer tuning solutions ranging from +95HP (Stage 1) to +204HP (Stage 3) for the MK8 GTI, with several stages in between, all supported by our UniCONNECT+ cable with a wide range of supporting Hardware Upgrades. Unitronic is also committed to delivering unparalleled support for more platforms equipped with the 2.0TSI EA888 EVO4 engine. Customers can soon expect even more support for E85, including our Flex Fuel Hardware and Software packages. Supporting fuel system upgrades will also be available in order to safely and reliably deliver the power using E85.
AVAILABLE HARDWARE UPGRADES
Aided by empirical data collection and instrumentation, it's common for Unitronic Engineers to uncover factory hard part limitations where such inhibits maximum performance either through efficiency short-comings or air-flow restrictions. In the case of the 2.0TSI MQB EVO4 engines, Unitronic found several areas where the factory hardware would not keep up with the demands of a tuned vehicle. Starting from the front end, the Unitronic Carbon Fiber Intake System and Air Duct help draw large amounts of cool air into the engine which allows the turbocharger to work more efficiently. Similarly, the factory intercooler loses its ability to keep charge air temperature at reasonable levels before the ECU's logic intervenes to reduce output due to high IATs. The Unitronic Intercooler Upgrade features a core which is 64% larger than stock and in-turn, helps drastically reduce the effects of heat soak in order to keep charge air temperatures low and develop more power.
In order to handle all this additional power, Unitronic has developed its Performance Downpipe for 2.0TSI EVO4 vehicles. Featuring a 5" GESI UHOX 400cpsi Catalytic Converter and CFD Optimized Upper Castings, this Downpipe helps alleviate downstream restrictions and optimize turbocharger performance. Going one step further, the MK8 GTI Cat-Back Exhaust System is also available. This exhaust system features premium Stainless Steel construction, v-band fasteners, customizable tips and offers maximum performance, while maintaining a comfortable but enhanced exhaust tone which isn't obtrusive inside the cabin.
In order to help put all this power down and virtually eliminate the wheel hop and drivetrain slop present with the factory style mount, the Unitronic Dogbone Mount Upgrade is available for DQ381 or MQ350 equipped vehicles. Featuring a unique design with street or race polyurethane bushings, this upgrade improves drivetrain stability in order to help withstand the forces present during hard launches or demanding driving scenarios.

(surface conditions, tires, etc.) Launch Control Setpoint 1 is activated at 100% pedal position, without engaging the kick-down switch. Launch Control Setpoint 2 is activated at "110%" pedal position. (100% pedal position with the kick-down switch engaged)
