Sebring, FL — After a strong first showing at Daytona, the Unitronic JDC-Miller Motorsports team was eager to continue their momentum into the second round of the 2025 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at Sebring International Raceway. While the weekend didn’t end as planned, the crew and drivers gained valuable insights into the new platform as they continued to dial in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. OFFICIAL STANDINGS

A Challenging Start to the Weekend

Leading up to Friday’s 2-hour race, the team missed out on some practice time due to a technical issue, which kept the #17 Porsche in the pits for the majority of Thursday morning’s session. In the afternoon, Chris Miller was able to recover in qualifying, securing a mid-pack P12 starting position for the Alan Jay Automotive Network 120.

Battling Through Early Race Setbacks

The race began with high hopes, but the team encountered an early setback with a flat tire in the opening laps. This forced them to go a lap down early in the race and put them on the back foot for the remainder of the day. As the race progressed, some electrical gremlins also appeared, further complicating their efforts.

Despite the challenges, the team maintained their focus, using the remainder of the race as an opportunity to gather crucial data and continue to get comfortable with the new Porsche Cayman. Mikey Taylor and Chris Miller would both push on, learning more about the car and setup, despite the unfortunate circumstances.

“I think everyone in the team had high hopes for a good result in Sebring after our first race with the new car went fairly smoothly in Daytona. Unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be and we battled through various issues throughout the weekend," said Chris Miller. "I know the guys are already putting together a plan to make sure we are well prepared for the next race in Laguna and I’m confident we will come back strong. Very grateful for everyone’s hard work as we keep working to get up to speed and achieve the results we know we are capable of!”

“We always knew Sebring was going to be one of the hardest races of the year for us and this new program," added Mikey Taylor. "Not only is it one of the toughest events on the calendar, but we came into it with only having driven the car at Daytona which is very different track to set up a car at, and on top of that all we lost valuable laps on Thursday with some issues. We’ll continue to push and make progress in getting to grips with this new Porsche and the GS class before Laguna Seca!”

Shifting Focus to Round Three of the Season

Ultimately, the Unitronic JDC-Miller Motorsports team crossed the finish line in P24, while collecting some valuable championship points along the way. With their eyes set on the road ahead, the team remains optimistic as their focus shifts to Laguna Seca for the third round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, taking place on May 9-10.
