Alpine Volks Fair was back for its 2023 edition and the Unitronic crew thought it was only fitting to head down with their development MK8 Golf R, for four days of driving, new-product validations and fun with other like-minded enthusiasts in Helen, GA!
Kicking things off at Friday's MK8 meet hosted by UroTuning, Unitronic was proud to display its products for the hot 2.0TSI EVO4 platform for all to see. From the front to back, this MK8 Golf R is equipped with our complete line of existing products including the Unitronic Intercooler Upgrade, Unitronic Street Dogbone Mount and Unitronic Cat-Back Exhaust System. It was also equipped with many more upgrades which are coming soon including the Unitronic Carbon Fiber Intake System, Unitronic Downpipe for EVO4 AWD vehicles and most notably, our highly anticipated UniFLEX Hardware Package and MPI Upgrade Kit, all working harmoniously with Unitronic Performance Software.
The MK8 meet itself was a great success with many brands represented and lots of enthusiasts (new and old) driving some of the latest cars VW has to offer. With many cars on site ranging from lightly modified to heavily modified, we have no doubt this segment will continue to grow as we ourselves are very big fans of the MQB EVO4 platform too. The future is bright for VW fans!
Of course no trip to Helen, GA would be complete without a proper drive throughout the surrounding area. Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, there is no shortage of winding, scenic roads surrounding this charming Alpine town and this is exactly the type of environment where the MK8 Golf R shines. Equipped with an all-new torque vectoring rear differential, larger brakes, gobs of power and in our case, upcoming Unitronic Lowering Springs for MQB/MQB EVO platforms, this car handles anything you can throw at it with ease.
On Saturday, we once again joined our friends from UroTuning at the Vendor Expo. Even under grey skies and an early rain shower, the event drew a huge crowd. This unique setting is anchored around (Mutts Nuts) show cars who have each been selected from the individual micro-meets leading up to this point throughout the week. From classics to modern vehicles, stance cars and even off road builds, these vehicles are sure to impress even the most die-hard VAG brand enthusiasts out there.
From the entire Unitronic team, we'd sincerely like to thank Paul Barney and his crew for putting on yet another great event. The annual pilgrimage to Helen, GA is one that leaves a mark on many VW/Audi enthusiasts and we hope this tradition continues for a long time to come!
